Meet Our Members

Abbie
Abbie is 20 years old and calls Springfield, Ohio home. She’s a precision performer who participates in all performance lines, including flag and weapons. With eight seasons of color guard and winter guard experience, Abbie brings both passion and dedication to every performance.
Her favorite show she’s ever performed in is “Rewrite the Stars”, and one of her most cherished memories is the moment her team earned their very first 1st place finish. When it comes to skills, her favorite move is the saber hilt toss—a true guard classic!
If she could give her younger, elementary school self one piece of advice, it would be:
“It’s okay to slow down.”
A fun fact about Abbie? She loves capybaras! “Capybaras are very social animals—they get along with every species because they’re so friendly.”
Outside of guard, Abbie’s favorite movies are the Twilight series. Looking ahead to Ascendance Independent’s first season, her biggest hope is to inspire more people to join so she can share just how much she loves winter guard.

Kason
Kason is 19 years old and lives in Springfield, Ohio. He performs on the flag and weapons lines, bringing energy and precision to the team. With 3 years of winter guard experience, Kason is passionate about performing and growing his skills each season.
His favorite show he’s ever performed in is “Rewrite the Stars”, and his favorite memory is earning 1st place with his team. His go-to move? The saber 45 toss—a classic!
If Kason could give his younger, elementary school self one piece of advice, it would be:
“Chill out.”
A fun fact from Kason? “Mrs. South is the bestest ever!”
Outside of guard, his favorite movie is Luka. Looking ahead to this season, Kason hopes to encourage more people to join the team—because the more, the merrier!

Chloe
Chloe is 17 and lives in Springfield, Ohio. Her speciality is Flag, but is currently working on learning weapons, talk about an avid learner!! She has been involved in Winterguard 4 seasons, and always shows true dedication!
Her favorite show was “Rewrite the Stars”, and her favorite memory is receiving 1st place for the first time with this show.
Her favorite movie is “The Notebook”, and her favorite book is “Throne of Glass”
Her advice for her younger self is “Enjoy the small things while they last”
Her fun fact is that there are no numbers before 1,000 that contain the letter A.
Her hopes for this season are that we are able to hit all of our drill accurately, even if the floor is backwards….lol.

Zazrael
Zazrael is 16 years old and lives in Springfield, Ohio. A true all-around performer, he participates in all performance lines, bringing versatility and creativity to the team. With 5 seasons of winter guard experience, Zazrael is passionate about both performing and improving his skills.
His favorite show he’s ever performed in is “Rewrite the Stars”, and his favorite memories include winning 1st place last year and a fun flag fashion show in the band room at his school. His favorite move is the double strap toss on the rifle—a challenging skill that shows his dedication.
If Zazrael could give his younger, elementary school self one piece of advice, it would be:
“Think for yourself.”
A fun fact about Zazrael? “The Flight of Fear coaster at Kings Island was originally supposed to be a four-coaster ride with six cars. However, due to insufficient blocks and the weight of the cars in the loops, the ride has only ever operated as a two-coaster ride with five cars.”
Looking ahead to Ascendance Independent’s first season, Zazrael hopes to perform at his best and keep improving.

Sara
Sara is 17 years old and lives in Springfield, Ohio. She is another all around performer. We have a theme of amazing performers!!!!! She joins us with 9 years of Colorguard/Winterguard seasons under her belt!!!
Her favorite show ever performed was “Rewrite the Stars” from the 2023-2024 Winterguard Season. Her favorite memory from guard is winning 1st place at the Hamilton Competition with “Rewrite the stars”.
Her favorite movie is How to Traing Your Dragon 2, and her advice for her younger self I “Don’t worry about what others think of you”. Which is very valuable information! And her favorite book is Long Way Down, by Jason Reynolds.
A fun fact from Sara is that Ketchup was originally sold as medicine in the 1830s!!!
Sara hopes for this season to build the program for others who are just as or more passionate about guard as she is. She hopes we will grow and grow fast!
